En Route to GCNP - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

We got away from Maumelle around 9:00. The truck traffic today was much lighter making for a more pleasant and stress-free drive through the rest of Arkansas and into Oklahoma. Arkansas roads were at times rough so when we crossed into OK, the road was smooth and quiet. For a short time. Then, the road got pretty rough with cracks, holes, wide seams - it rattled our rigs and our brains. I'd guess about 50% of the stretch of I-40 we drove today was very rough. The rest was like brand new.

After refueling just before OK City, we encountered a strong rain storm with high winds and torrential rain. We slowed to about 50 MPH to keep from being blown off the road and to make sure we could stop if needed. The storm lasted only for about 10 minutes. Traffic coming into OK City was heavy and there were a few slow spots.

We arrived in camp at around 4:15 today. We are in Mustang Run Campground, a Good Sam Park. It is very nice - clean, concrete roads and pads, and a reasonably wide strip of grass between sites. It has full hook ups, cable and reasonably fast WiFi all included in the nightly fee. The rest rooms are among the cleanest we've seen. Much better than and public campgrounds.

Tomorrow, we get another early start to drive through the Texas Panhandle into New Mexico.
